About Jamie
Praised for his ‘crystalline clarity and poetic beauty’ and ‘immense musical flair and consummate artistry’, Jamie Cochrane is a British pianist whose career encompasses solo recitals, concerto performances and chamber music. His programmes explore the way individual works can illuminate one another, with each recital shaped as a musical journey through moods, characters and sound-worlds, bringing together composers such as Liszt, Ravel, Gershwin and Godowsky in a single programme. A Tillett Trust Debut Artist and Keyboard Charitable Trust Artist, Jamie’s recent highlights include a recital at Steinway Hall, London, and Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto with Sinfonia Smith Square. His 2026–27 season includes a London recital debut at Kings Place, as well as performances in Italy and across the UK.
His recital work has taken him to festivals including Brighton and Lichfield, as well as music societies and concert series across the UK. As a concerto soloist, his repertoire encompasses works by Beethoven, Chopin and Rachmaninoff alongside Bernstein’s The Age of Anxiety and Clara Schumann’s Piano Concerto. Recent performances have included Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with the de Havilland Philharmonic Orchestra and Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 with Colchester Symphony Orchestra. Jamie also performs regularly as a chamber musician, in duos and ensembles, while his earlier work with the contemporary music group Ensemble ISIS saw him collaborate with composers such as Shirley Thompson and Cheryl Frances-Hoad.
Jamie graduated with a first-class degree from Merton College, Oxford, before completing postgraduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music with William Fong and Michael Dussek, where he was awarded the DipRAM for an outstanding final recital. His competition successes include prizes at the Bromsgrove International Musicians’ Competition and the Norah Sande Award. His studies were supported by the Wayne Sleep Foundation, Robert Turnbull Piano Foundation and Cullis Bursary Fund.
